To Stream or not To Stream??

So, you need to get your music out there and make some hard cash/big bucks!!

With the plethora of opportunities for artists nowadays it's a road crammed with options but even more crammed with competition for places.

The streaming option offered by sites like Spotify or Amazon Music is great for exposure , get your songs out to your fans and get great concert ticket sales or merchandise sales on the back of that.

But what about lil' ol' me and the millions of other small artists twiddling and fiddling away in their own little studios trying to get that small break?

Web steams bring in a minuscule amount of money, many 'fans' think they are doing you a great favour by streaming your songs, when in fact most artists only make something like £0.005 (currently) per stream!

A recent blog by a band showed just over 1,000,000 plays on Spotify for a return of just over $5000!

Ed Sheeran's 'Shape of You' has had 1.3billion steams on Spotify earning him $6.6million from those streams.  If your big enough then it's obviously worth it!

so as a small artist, we have the dilemma of putting your music on streaming channels for exposure, but virtually getting nothing back for that, or sticking to the mainstream download only platforms, and trying other avenues for promotion and exposure of your music...

Some call streaming sites the devils work, some say it's a necessary evil!  It may all just depend on how successful you are with your projects...

I myself am jumping on board the 3D hologram bus, to play live hologram gigs in peoples houses!!! now there's an idea;-)
